👍 What we like

Rare cruise, ferry and inflight eSIM plans that work at sea, where normal travel eSIMs go dark
Free trial data plan in the app with no card required, so you can test the network before buying
Wide catalog: 1767 live plans across 188 countries, including hundreds of unlimited-data options
Validity starts on first network connection in the coverage area, not at purchase, so you can buy before you fly
Cheap entry point — live plans from $2.99, before the extra esimadvice.com discount
Extra perks for eligible Visa cardholders, including complimentary data and automatic plan discounts in the app

👎 Worth noting

Strict no-refund policy: eSIMs and top-ups are non-refundable even if unused, with exceptions only for service failures on GigSky's side
No pay-as-you-go or no-expiry plans in the catalog, so every plan runs on a validity clock
Cruise and combined Cruise+Land plans can start their countdown at install if you are already in a covered area, which is easy to trip over
Buying and managing plans is tied to the GigSky app and an account rather than a simple web checkout

How GigSky works

Choose a GigSky plan above by destination, data, and validity. Prices already include any eSIMAdvice coupon.
2Install over Wi-Fi

3Connect on arrival
Turn the eSIM line on for data when you land — your main SIM stays active for calls and texts.

Supported devices

GigSky works on any eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked phone. Common examples:

iPhoneiPhone XS / XR and newer — every iPhone 11–16, SE (2020+), incl. US models that are eSIM-only
Samsung GalaxyS20–S25 series, Note 20, Z Fold / Z Flip (all), A54 / A55 and newer A-series
Google PixelPixel 3 and newer — Pixel 6–9 series fully supported (carrier-unlocked)
iPad & tabletsCellular iPads (2019+), Galaxy Tab S9+; data plans work the same way
Other brandsMotorola Razr/Edge, Xiaomi 13+, Oppo Find, Huawei P40+ — most 2019+ flagships

Tip: open Settings and look for "Add eSIM" or "Add cellular plan" to confirm your device supports eSIM. Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked.

About GigSky

GigSky is app-first: you create a free account in the GigSky app (iOS or Android), which immediately unlocks a 100MB trial plan so you can test coverage before paying, then buy and install your travel plan from inside the app (QR-code installation is also supported). Validity does not start at purchase — the clock starts when your device first connects to a network in a location the plan covers, so you can buy at home before a trip. One caveat: if you buy a plan that also covers your current location (common with Cruise+Land plans), it activates as soon as the eSIM installs, so GigSky itself recommends installing shortly before departure or keeping mobile data off for that eSIM until you need it. Cruise plans begin working once the ship is about 12 nautical miles offshore, typically about an hour after leaving port. Top-ups and auto-renewal are handled in the app.

GigSky — quick answers

What is the cheapest GigSky plan and how big is the catalog?

On esimadvice.com we track 1767 live GigSky plans covering 188 countries, with prices starting at $2.99. The catalog includes hundreds of unlimited-data plans, mostly for single destinations and shorter trips, but no pay-as-you-go plans without an expiry date.

Is there a GigSky discount code?

Yes. The code ESIMDUDE gives 15% off GigSky plans, and it is applied automatically to the prices you see on esimadvice.com — no need to type it in at checkout.

When does a GigSky plan actually start — at purchase or first use?

Neither at purchase nor strictly at first use: the validity clock starts when your device first connects to a network in a location the plan covers. That means you can safely buy before a trip, but if the plan also covers where you are now (as Cruise+Land plans often do), it activates as soon as the eSIM is installed, so GigSky recommends installing just before departure or keeping the eSIM's mobile data off until you need it.

Does GigSky really work on cruise ships?

Yes — cruise coverage is GigSky's signature feature. Its cruise, ferry and offshore eSIMs use the ship's onboard Cellular at Sea network, with service beginning once you are about 12 nautical miles offshore, typically about an hour after the ship leaves port; Cruise+Land variants also cover the ports you visit. Ordinary land eSIMs go quiet at sea, so this is a genuinely distinct product.

Can I try GigSky for free before paying?

Yes. Creating a free account in the GigSky app unlocks a 100MB trial data plan with no card required, so you can verify coverage on your route first. Eligible Visa cardholders can also claim complimentary data allowances and automatic discounts by verifying their card in the app.
