AmigoSIM (Amigo) is a travel eSIM seller whose plans are delivered as a QR code and designed to activate automatically the first time you power on your phone in the destination country, so you can install before you fly and forget about it. Plans are data-only — no traditional voice calls or SMS — hotspot tethering is allowed unless a specific plan says otherwise, and extra data can be bought through the Amigo app rather than repurchasing a new eSIM. On eSIMAdvice we track 410 live AmigoSIM plans across 186 countries, starting at $6.

Nomad eSIM AmigoSIM works on any eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked phone. Common examples:
Tip: open Settings and look for "Add eSIM" or "Add cellular plan" to confirm your device supports eSIM. Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked.
You buy directly on amigosim.com by searching your destination and picking a plan; payment is by Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Google Pay or Apple Pay. After checkout you receive a QR code, which you can scan immediately or save and install later — AmigoSIM encourages installing before travel because the plan only starts when you power on your phone in the destination country and it connects to a local network. Manual activation-detail entry is available if you cannot scan the QR, and one quirk to know: plans running on Three Mobile prompt you for a 4-digit confirmation code during setup. Your phone must be unlocked and eSIM-compatible (dial *#06# — an EID number means you are compatible), and once you are connected, top-ups can be bought from the Amigo app at any time.

On eSIMAdvice we currently track 410 live AmigoSIM plans covering 186 countries, with prices starting at $6 for the cheapest plan. Coverage spans local single-country eSIMs plus regional and global options, so most destinations have several sizes to choose from.
AmigoSIM's own compatibility check is to dial *#06# — if an EID number appears in the readout, your phone supports eSIM. Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. At checkout you can pay by Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Google Pay or Apple Pay, and if your phone cannot scan the QR code you receive, AmigoSIM lets you enter the activation details manually instead.
The plan activates when you power on your phone in the destination country and it connects to a local network, not at purchase or installation. That means you can scan the QR code and install the eSIM at home before your trip without burning validity. If your plan runs on Three Mobile, expect a prompt for a 4-digit confirmation code during setup.
Yes. AmigoSIM's FAQ states you can purchase additional data directly from the Amigo app at any time, so a top-up does not require installing a second eSIM profile. If you prefer not to use the app, the fallback is simply buying another plan and scanning its new QR code.
Hotspot tethering is supported — Amigo's FAQ says plan data can be shared via hotspot unless a specific plan states otherwise. However, the plans are data-only: per AmigoSIM, data-only plans do not support traditional voice calls or SMS, so calls and messages need data-based apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime, and you can keep your home SIM active for its number at the same time.
